About Us

Elaine and Dawn are the human side of Acehounds Friendship Dogs. With the aid of our gentle, loving greyhounds we seek to enrich the lives of vulnerable people within our community and help sufferers of mental health. Having a dog around is a great distraction for people coping with stress and depression because dogs provide a sensory comfort. Simply touching them and stroking their fur reduces the level of cortisol (the stress hormone) in your blood and instead releases oxytocin to help you feel calmer and more relaxed. As well as giving you a feel good factor, it also lowers your heart rate and blood pressure so that you can think clearer and start feeling better about yourself as well as feeling more relaxed.

Apart from the benefits of interacting with our dogs in your home we also offer dog walking which is a very enjoyable form of exercise to keep you fit and healthy. As well as the fitness benefits there is the social side of dog walking as you usually meet other people while on your walk who want to stop and talk about your dog.

We are also offering student’s at school’s the chance to spend time at our kennels , learning dog care, kennel management and IT skills.

As well as giving students a fantastic learning opportunity, our Exclusively Grey kennels offer a unique Day Boarding and Holiday Boarding service for your Greyhound.

Ace Hounds Friendship Dogs

The greyhounds nickname is “The 40mph couch potato” which is true, although they can run at the incredible speed of 40mph, once they have retired they love nothing more than lounging on the sofa or any comfy dog bed.

Whether you are a single person or a busy family a greyhound will make the perfect pet as they love a cuddle and a tummy scratch (and the occasional treat).
